Tetris Blitz

I'm already over the Candy Crush madness, but I blame iTunes for getting me hooked on another game that will ruin my life.

Tetris Blitz

I'm being careful not to spazz out lest my age shows, but who doesn't love Tetris? Brick game consoles with 10,000-in-1 games (about 6,000 of which were different versions of Tetris) were all the rage in the 1990s, along with Tamagotchis and Sailor Moon.

Fast forward 2013. The classic game is being revamped with a modern version for Android and Apple devices. This time, players only have 2 minutes -- very reminiscent of the gem-swapping Bejeweled Blitz -- to clear as many lines as possible. And because it's for smart devices, you don't need to rotate the pieces, just tap the places where you want them to go, and voila! No more sore thumbs!

While it can be confusing at first, this fast-paced game grows on you. Expect long hours of plotting lines and positions, even while you sleep.

Tetris Blitz is available for free on iTunes and Play Store. It's an in-app purchase, just like Candy Crush, so you'll be getting a lot of nagging to purchase a boost or share your glory on social media.

Vain Space: On Work Tables

Internet, you shall be the death of me and my almost nonexistent bank account.

This week's craziness started with a photo.

Photo from Pottery Barn website

White, virginal, straightforward. Verrry nice. However, it will be a miracle to get this table shipped to this third world country, not to mention the customs headaches and a few tears. Construction by our go-to furniture guy is also going to be an ordeal I don't have the strength to go through, so I opted to find the next best thing.

From HOFA Lamin8 Facebook page
See, this here is a console table, but its length is perfect for the clutter I have at home. Plus, it has some nifty section underneath for all the doodads. It comes in a dark brown shade and a lighter, more natural finish, which I think is more pleasing to look at. The table sells for P2,499 (about $60), and is made of laminated medium-density fiberboard.

I have a bookcase made of laminated MDF, and based on experience, it's not very durable. It's pretty to look at from a distance, but the back and some of the edges are peeling and falling apart. I'm terrified a table of the same make would buckle under the weight of my books and other trash.

For those who like this or other HOFA Lamin8 products, they have a store at SM North Edsa Interior Zone. That's at the back building, where Cyberzone was previously located.

You're mine. Soon.
So pretty, my knees buckled at the sight of it. The clean lines, simple finish. Yes. Yes. Yes! This table, seen in Dimensione Eastwood Mall, is made of hard wood slab with metal framing. I can just stare at it the whole day, and maybe run my fingers through it. This is love.

Made in the Philippines at an unbelievably affordable price (P3,295 or about $80 plus delivery). Delivery is two working days after order and payment, according to staff.

I'm getting this one soon, or as soon as I can get out of the office today. Now, where to find that perfect chair?

Hello world

After much thought (mostly about what to name this space), I finally gave in. Hello world! Please be kind.
